Simple Wedding Trends for the South African Bride!

Having seen a number of brides host their wedding at the Hotel, Granny Mouse Country House & Spa Banqueting Manager, Ane’ du Preez has collated a list of Wedding Trends she believes are perfect for the Spring/Summer wedding season.

When it comes to planning the look and feel of one’s wedding in the spring and summer months, it is best to build the theme upon on central point. Here are a few simple trends du Preez suggests one thinks about when planning their wedding in line with the season:

 Bright colours and floral prints:

When one thinks of spring and summer, floral prints and bright colours including those that are citrus and fruit inspired such as oranges, lemons, strawberry, peach, and green are a great choice and one that is becoming ever popular with brides that have hosted their weddings in the warmer months. Keeping in line with what the season represents only seems fitting and is relatively simple to incorporate into the décor and flowers. The use of accentuating one specific colour or print in the bridesmaid’s dresses, groomsmen’s ties or waistcoats and even the cake, is also an easy trick to bring the whole theme together.

 Pretty updo’s:

Up styles are the way to go, especially if your wedding is set for September, October or November.  As many South African’s know, between September and November, nature tends to be windier, so a bridal party that dons an up styled hairdo is the most sensible option – especially if it is curled and then pinned up elegantly. According to idoidoido.co.za the hottest hairstyle trend for 2015 is the elegant low bun. It is sexy and one of those hairstyles that can be worn with any type of wedding gown.

 Country inspiration:

With Granny Mouse Country House & Spa being the epitome of a Midlands country setting, the theme of Country has made its way to the forefront of many a wedding hosted at the hotel.

For a farm and country theme, bride’s tend to want to utilise the grass area at the bottom of the hotel’s property adjacent to the Lions River where trees can be draped in pretty lights, with hints of green and brown paired with white linen and china that creates a magical setting that takes guests “home away from home”.

 Fruity Cakes:

Granny Mouse Pastry Chef, Leon De Kock suggests that cakes that look “undressed” donning fresh fruits and cream are becoming popular and are a stunning sight for wedding guests as it breaks away from tradition.

These are only a few trends that can be followed or incorporated into your wedding. The main feature, is always the bride, so if she is there, the wedding is sure to be a blast! For wedding advice and packages on offer contact Granny Mouse Country House & Spa on (033) 234 4071
